Kambô
Kambô is a sacred and ancient medicine from the Amazon Rain Forrest that purifies and cleanses both the mind and body and can bring profound connection to Spirit. It has been used for centuries by many tribes as a way to clear negative energies, prevent disease, heal disease and bring strength, vitality and clarity. Kambô works at the root cause of our issues and therefore not a walk in the park or something to be taken lightly. However if the courage is there, its benefits and healing power can be life changing.
My Approach
The Kambô sessions I share are done in a way of ceremony and deeply honoring the sacredness of this medicine from the heart. I use a combination of tools: creating a sacred space, guided meditation, intention setting and chanting to provide a sincere, authentic, safe and loving space for you to to dive deep with this medicine.
I have been professionally trained and certified by Kambô Naturista in Iquitos Peru and have over 7 years of Amazonian plant medicine experience and 5 years of experience receiving, apprenticing and serving Kambô.
All of the Kambô I serve is ethically harvested by one Matsés elder and his family living at my teacher's land just outside of Iquitos Peru. A percentage of my earnings from Kambô sessions goes to supporting the Matsés community and the Kambô Naturista frog sanctuary in Peru where the frogs are taken care of and accurately marked so they do not get double harvested and are not in danger, injured or exploited.
I've had the privilege to live with and learn directly from the elders and wisdom keepers of the jungle and it is with great humbleness, awareness, respect and gratitude that I share this medicine and knowledge with those that cross my path in need of its healing.
More About and Benefits
Kambô, Sapo or Acate is the skin secretion or venom of the Giant Waxy Monkey Tree Frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor). The secretion of the frog contains a cocktail of bio-active peptides (amino acid chains), which when introduced to the human body via the skin have a profound healing and purgatory effect. They induce a number of different functions in the body like sweating, nausea,
peristaltic movement of the digestive system, release of bile and toxins from the liver, gallbladder and more. The wisdom of this sacred medicine has been kept alive and passed down to this day most notably by the Matsés tribe who live in the basin of the Javari river along the Brazilian-Peruvian border.

Kambô has a holistic healing effect on the physical, mental/emotional and spiritual aspects of our being. The medicine's intelligence goes to the root cause of disease and does it's work from the inside out. Nearly all systems of the body, especially the respiratory, immune, lymphatic, nervous, digestive and circulatory systems are cleansed and strengthened. Afflictive emotions and negative thinking patterns can become transparent and uprooted and a felt sense of connection to spirit can be experienced.
The Matsés traditionally use Kambô for hunting because of the energy, clarity and vitality it brings and to purify themselves of what they call Panema, or negative energy fields. It can be experienced directly that Kambô somehow lifts and clears the clouds of negativity that can be surrounding a person from unhealthy lifestyle choices, negative thinking patterns, depression, anxiety and lethargy to manifest a synchronistic and heavily fortunate flow of life. Since it is one of the strongest natural anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, antimicrobial and anesthetic substances found in nature, there are profound physical benefits as well, namely boosted immune system, detoxification of internal organs (especially the liver) and enhanced circulatory system and heart function. Benefits also include, uplifted mood, increased energy, clarity of purpose in life, clear mind, focus, alertness, strength and a deeper sense of connection to nature, spirit, love and the heart.
Preparation and What to Expect
How to Prepare
The first step is to make sure you are mentally prepared and feeling the calling in your Heart to take Kambô. This medicine is not for everyone and we can also help to clarify this for you through a 1:1 consultation before by getting in touch with me HERE. Taking Kambô is like anything else; the more time, care and effort you put into it, the more you will get out of it and the deeper the healing can go.
To prepare physically it is recommended to maintain a vegan diet and abstain from sexual activity, drugs, alcohol and intoxicants of any kind for at least 3 days before your session.
If you can maintain a clean diet and healthy lifestyle for more than 3 days before, the better and deeper the healing can be.
To prepare spiritually and mentally, contemplate and set your intention clearly in advance. There will be space for this in the session as well but intention is very important to give your reason for taking Kambô an intimate significance that is just for you and your process. Taking Kambô just for the sake of experience is not recommended.
What to Expect
Sessions usually last around 2 hours, resting and opening meditation time included. The session will start with a brief check in, meditation and intention setting. Next, you will need to drink 2 liters of water while the medicine is prepared. During this time we will also burn "the gates" through which the medicine will enter the body. This is done by heating the end of a jungle vine stick called Tamshi and then gently tapping the skin with it. This process is no more painful than getting a shot at the doctor and just burns the superficial layer of skin. We will burn as many dots as are needed based on my discretion at a location on the body we discuss before hand and then gently remove the superficial layer of skin. Typically the Matsés burn the gates on the chest and arm of males or on the abdomen or ankles of woman but ultimately this doesn't matter and is up to the one receiving. However, it is important to know that the closer the medicine is to the heart, the more quickly and efficiently the medicine will work.
Once the medicine is applied to the gates, the heart rate will increase and a sense of heaviness of the body may begin. In five or less minutes you will start to feel nauseous, perhaps hot or cold, start sweating profusely or not, feel a sense of swelling of the lips, tongue and face or not, tightness in the hands or not and generally quite uncomfortable and sick. Each session for each person is different and these effects vary from person to person but it's important to know that none of them are dangerous, they are all routine in the process of a Kambô session. This is the feeling of the medicine scanning and uprooting toxicity both energetically and physically from your being to be purged. 95% of the time vomiting and defecation will happen, either one or the other or both at the same time. Also, tears and crying may come as an emotional purge or as a reaction to a deeply moving insight you may experience in your session. An expression of emotion in this way is also very common to happen directly or in the days after a session as well. At this point, the healing has begun and the medicine will do its work. Whatever your experience needs to be, it will be and of course full support, guidance and care will be there throughout the process.
Contraindications
Despite being completely safe when administered by a professionally trained and experienced Kambô practitioner, the medicine in itself is very powerful and there are some contraindications. With some exceptions and special cases, Kambô would not be advised if any of the following apply for you.
